Ocean View Cottage

Ocean View Cottage

Here’s the first iteration of a design for a cottage by the sea. A charming 3 bedroom home with a focus on style, efficiency & views towards the front of the site (in this case the water). Although this home features a compact living space, this is offset by the high cathedral ceiling in the living room and the openness of the living / kitchen / meals area which all looks out towards the views. Downstairs we have the master bedroom which also features a peaked ceiling. A 2 way bathroom off this area has been included as a cost saving measure together with the euro style laundry off the hall. Further cost savings can be made by way of staging the build, with a future bathroom upstairs which is adjacent to 2 more bedrooms and an optional deck off the back of the living space. An attached garage has also been included, which can be easily modified to become a 2 car garage.

Sandlewood House Mod – 3 bedroom coastal cottage design

Sandlewood House Mod – 3 bedroom coastal cottage design

This is a modification to the Sandlewood House Design where we have changed the rooflines (substituting the skillion roofs for gables), increased the building footprint and added a third bedroom – leaning more towards the coastal cottage feel of the project and away from the contemporary. What a great 3 bedroom coastal cottage design.

Sylvia House – Traditional 4 Bedroom Cottage Design

Sylvia House – Traditional 4 Bedroom Cottage Design

This traditional 4 bedroom cottage design (or 5 bedrooms if you include the study) is a very family & budget friendly home. With all the charm of a single storey cottage (with the 2 storey area contained wholly within the roof line) this home is beautiful and homely and fits well into a street-scape dominated by single storey homes. A small fall across the site is catered for by using a mixture of concrete slab and suspended floors. The design features a master bedroom on the ground level which is well positioned away from the kids who are grouped together upstairs with 3 generous bedrooms, bathroom and study nook. An open family zone to the rear of the design captures the northern sun and the formal living provides the extra space needed as the family grows – what a great traditional 4 bedroom cottage design.

Coastal Cottage 4 Bedroom Option

Coastal Cottage 4 Bedroom Option

After a number of requests to see a 4 bedroom option for the coastal cottage design, I’ve decided to upload a version of the design prepared for our clients presented as an option early in the design phase. While the clients decided to go ahead with an alternative, it is good to see how a design can be tweaked without impacting too much on the basic concept or budget. While we often advise clients of their options, at the end of the day, it is up to a clients themselves to decide what is important to them, an extra bedroom, a cathedral ceiling, a playroom and so on – so many alternatives & it’s great we have a system that provides the flexibility to give our customers what they want..
